    The training center is located in suite 201 (2nd floor) of the Suntrust bank building on Oleander Drive.

    Our training center is located in the Trident One Stop Career Center on the left on Hanahan Road approximately one block off Rivers Avenue. An instructor will meet students at the building's main door for morning registration, or the receptionist at the front desk will direct students to the LCSC office at other times.

    We're just minutes from many of our participating owner-sites, travel accommodations and Charleston's beautiful historic river area. Contractors travelling from out of town may find the Charleston International Airport, just one-mile away, especially convenient.

Registration

All employees should be registered in advance of attending. Our classrooms have seating capacity limits established by the fire department. Registrations are appreciated by 3:30pm prior to the requested class. Registration forms should be completed by either printing a form and sending to us via fax or online. All registrations will be confirmed via the method that it was originally received.

Non-Registered Students

Non-registered employees may or may not be permitted in class, depending on available capacity in our classrooms and computer lab. We strongly urge that all employees be registered in advance of attending.

Class Time

Employees should report to the training location 30 minutes before the scheduled class start time. Please see our class schedule for class start times!

Duration of classes is as follows:

  • Basic Orientation Plus (BOP): 5 to 5.5 hours
  • Basic Orientation Plus-Refresher (BPR): 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Site-Specific courses vary from 1 to 2 hours each, depending upon the company's requirements.

Classes do not break for lunch. On-site vending services (coffee, beverages, and snacks) are available to students, or they may bring their own lunch.

Payment & Identification

Members will be directly invoiced each week. Non-member payment is due before the scheduled class begins. We accept cash, company check (made out to MASC), VISA, and MasterCard. Sorry, but we can not accept personal checks or American Express cards. If you would like to pay with your company credit card, please call the MASC office prior to training and we can arrange payment information.

Photo identification is required of all students. Acceptable forms of identification include a current driver's license, state issued identification card, military identification card, or passport. Employees without photo identification will be issued a non-reciprocal card. The employee may return to MASC at a later time with their photo identification to receive a reciprocal card, however, a $10 fee for a duplicate badge may apply.

Late Arriving Students

Students arriving after class has begun will not be permitted into class.

Refresher & Site-Specific Students

Employees returning to MASC for refresher or site-specific training must bring their MASC badge and accepted form of identification with them. An updated MASC badge will be issued to the student upon completion of training.

Reciprocal Cards

MASC recognizes Basic Orientation Plus™ and Basic Orientation Plus- Refresher™ training issued by other ARSC councils. Students must be able to present identification cards issued by other councils as well as one of the accepted forms of identification. MASC must confirm reciprocal training with the originating council prior to letting a student begin classes.

Non-Reciprocal Cards

Non-reciprocal cards may be issued to students who can not present photo identification or for receiving assistance while testing, such as verbal or translated tests. Non-reciprocal training is not accepted by other ARSC councils. Furthermore, it may not be accepted by some of the owner sites in each council, depending upon the company's entrance requirements.

Course Completion

Successful course completion requires a passing score on the test. Employees who do not achieve a passing score will be required to re-take the entire course. Employees returning for their first re-take within two weeks will not be charged a registration fee. Successful completion of Basic Orientation Plus or Basic Orientation Plus-Refresher is required before site-specific training can be completed.

Prohibitions

Prohibited items and behaviors, such as (but not limited to) those listed below, may result in an employee's temporary or permanent suspension from MASC. Suspended employees will not receive credit or a refund for paid fees. Furthermore, employees returning to MASC to complete a course after being suspended will be charged the normal rate to retake the course.

MASC strictly prohibits any of the following items or behaviors on our premises:

  • Weapons, firearms, illegal drugs, or alcoholic beverages
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Cheating

Tobacco Products

MASC strictly prohibits the use of any tobacco products inside the training center. This includes chewing tobacco and snuff. The designated smoking area is located outside the student entrance.

Dress Code

Employees should wear casual, comfortable clothes. MASC prohibits employees from wearing cut-off shorts, tank tops or halter tops, midriffs, and mini-skirts. Furthermore, MASC strictly prohibits any clothing displaying nudity, sexual or vulgar behavior, and/or obscene or offensive words or pictures.

Work Gear

Employees are asked to leave their work gear in their vehicles, at work, or at home. MASC can not be held responsible for lost or stolen items nor are they needed for class. We have equipment for demonstrative purposes in the classroom.

Personal Electronics

Use of personal electronic equipment is prohibited. Phones, pagers, organizers, and other similar distracting equipment are required to be muted anywhere inside the training center. Use of this equipment is restricted to authorized break times only.
