PCS PHOSPHATE: AURORA BACKGROUND CHECKS
Mid Atlantic Safety Council (MASC) supports the efforts of our member companies by following their requirements for identification of persons who will be taking site specific training for that facility. In addition to the basic ID cks required by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) when students check in, PCS Phosphate in Aurora requires that a background check be completed before students are allowed to take their site specific training.
To ensure that all contractor background checks are reviewed consistently, PCS has selected Down East Protective Services (DEPS) to conduct these checks. Contractor companies completing the checks will receive results information from DEPS, while PCS and MASC receive only an acknowledgement that the check has occurred and the results either meet or do not meet the requirements set for that person to take PCS site specific training.
To set up an account with DEPS, follow the steps below.
1) Contact DEPS via email at msmith@depsnet.com and request to set up an account. In your email, make sure they are aware that you are a contractor for PCS Phosphate.
2) You will be sent 2 forms - one is a vendor application (that will take all of 5 minutes to complete) and the other is a release form to be signed by the contractor employee that the background check is for. NOTE: The vendor application should have a box to check if this is for PCS Phosphate. If it doesn't, please write this in.
3) Make copies of the release form. Fill one out and fax it to the number DEPS gives you. The check should take not more than 48 hours.
4) Once the check is complete, DEPS will send you (the vendor) the complete background check. They will send a "pass" or "fail" grade daily to MASC. If there is a case where you would like to review the results with a PCS representative, contact Crystal Everett, and a one-on-one review may be arranged.
5) DEPS will send out billing statements monthly. Should anyone become past due, they will contact PCS for assistance.
We hope that this new system will work out much smoother, and incidentally, the cost is only $29.95/person. If you would like, you can request to add $5.00/person to this and receive a one year monitoring to each individual. PCS Phosphate does not require this.
When you receive the results from the background check (should take 2 or 3 days at most), visit MA-SC.org and use the Registration tab to register individuals for classes. You can fill out the online form and submit it electronically, or you can print out a registration form and fax it to MASC.
